VINTAGE RARE LATE 1940s-EARLY1950s LADIES RED CROSS RAINCOAT CALVARY YELLOW EPAULETSThis is an excellent, beautiful example of a RARE Red Cross professional staff raincoat from the late 1940s-early 1950's.

January 4, 1950 Standard Cotton Uniforms and Standard Raincoats for Women of the National Staff memo from Ramone S. Eaton
The new cotton uniform and raincoat, standard for all American Red Cross women workers, are now authorized for wear by members of the national staff.
The standard raincoat Figure 74 is of water repellent cross-dye rayon gaberdine, gray-blue in color, and is to be worn with the standard outdoor uniforms and therefore with the outdoor uniform hats. The matching garrison raincap available to chapter workers is not to be worn by paid staff members.

MEASUREMENTS
Measurements are taken with with the garment laid out flat. All measurements are approximate.
Arm pit to arm pit: 22 inches (Chest 44 inches)
Waist: 20 inches (waist 40 inches)
Belt: 44 inches long
Top of the shoulder sleeve to cuff: 23 inches.
Top of front shoulder to bottom front hem: 45 inches
Top back collar to bottom back hem: 49 inches
MATERIAL
This coat is made of a water repellent cross-dye rayon gaberdine, gray-blue in color.
CONDITION
Condition: EXCELLENT. All buttons are are present. No fraying, rips, tears, holes, stains, discolorations. This coat looks like it was worn very little.

INSIGNIA
Red Cross ARC pins are present on both collars and in great shape (SEE PHOTOS). Red chevrons on the bottom of left sleeve. Epaulets are Calvary Yellow in color, which denotes Staff Aide Service Corps. Left shoulder has a round Red Cross Service patch.
NOTE: This item came from the vintage military uniform collection at now closed
"So Proudly We Hailed" museum, which was located at the Hill Country Veterans Center in Kerrville, Texas. The museum honored all American service individuals from the Revolutionary War to current operations from all branches of service.
