Replacement Lids for Vintage Lipton Sun Tea Jar(s).  Set of Four lids.
These are brand new lids for Lipton and similar one gallon glass Sun Tea Jars.  These jars have threads measuring 3 3/8 inch in outside diameter and an opening size of 3 inches inside diameter.
Note: This lid will not fit modern sun tea jars, plastic jars, or jars that came with the yellow plastic lids with the pop up pour spouts.
For those needing more exact measurements:
First the measurements of the jar that the lids fit, because original lid is usually missing or severely damaged:
The OD of the thread is 3.485 inches (3 1/2 inches). It is a single thread which circles the jar once and overlaps 1.057 inches (1 1/16 inch) where it begins and ends, with an offset of .255 inches (1/4 inch) from thread centerline to thread centerline where it overlaps.
Distance between the seal surface and the shoulder below the threaded surface is .531 inches (1/2 inch).
The OD of the jar opening (beneath the thread) is 3.372 inches (3 3/8 inch).
The ID of the opening is 3.038 inches (3 1/32 inches, or a tiny bit over 3 inches).
Everyone describes these jars as "wide mouth", because it is much wider than a quart jar, but in terms of gallon jars, the actual size is in the middle of the range of available sizes. My own personal descriptive name for the opening size is: "It looks like I should be able to reach inside there and scrub the inside of the jar with my hand, but once I get my hand in and wash it, it takes ten painful minutes to pull my hand out".
    Now the lid itself:
OD at the little ridged surface at the top is 3.516 inches (3 33/64 inches, a tiny bit over 3 1/2 inches).
OD at the rolled shoulder at the bottom of the lid is 3.636 inches (3 5/8 inches).
Height is .537 inches (17/32 inch, or just over 1/2 inch) .
ID across the inside of the thread is 3.421 inches (3 27/64 inch, or just over 3 3/8 inches).
Lids are steel with Plastisol synthetic rubber liner (seal) and white painted finish.   Size is 89/400.
Buyer Is Responsible For Verifying Size
We will no longer accept returns of this item for the reason of "wrong size".  We have been extremely lenient in the past accepting returns and nearly every lid returned has been destroyed in transit because they were mailed back loose in poly envelopes, instead of the cardboard boxes that we ship them out in to protect them in transit.
Customers are responsible for measuring the jar they are purchasing a lid for and verifying fit based on the above, extensive measurements, and the listing photo showing the mouth of the correct jar with a tape measure showing scale.

    The Story Behind This Item:
Some time around the 1970's, Lipton had a promotion of their brand and the use of their product to make sun tea, in which they distributed and/or sold one gallon, glass jars, with their logo and instructions for making sun tea printed on the side of the jar.  These were, at that time, common "wide mouth", three inch diameter opening, jars.  Tea is corrosive, and after years of use, the lids would rust.  Common lids from other jars could be found, but were not quite the same quality or fit.  And after many years, these one gallon jars and their lids have become rare.  That leaves searching flea markets and swap meets for a used jar with a usable lid.  And the current offerings of flimsy plastic discount store sun tea jars don't last very long at all.  About the only place to find replacement lids is from a bottle manufacturer, and they want to sell them by the truckload.  Who wants to pay thousands of dollars for a pallet of lids?  Or + plus fragile-glass-premium shipping for a case of jars with lids?  I managed to track down a somewhat more reasonable quantity, and divided them up into small quantities to offer to all of the other sun tea drinkers who have been searching for replacement lids for their sun tea jars.
