Description
Extremely rare and what I believe to be based on the design elements a very early American circa late 1600's to early 1700's silver mug with unidentified hallmark comprised of the initials 'G L' surmounted by what appears to be a dog, all within a surround which is rounded above and serrated serpentine below. The initials 'B E D' are engraved/incised on the top of the handle. There are no other markings or hallmarks on the mug. The research I have done trying to find this particular hallmark has proved elusive. Any information regarding this hallmark would be welcome. The mug which measures approximately 3.25"h x 2.75" base diameter and 2.5" top diameter (not including handle width dimension) has surface denting on the body and foot rim.
