The STEEL FRAMING PINS AKN-100-XXXXHA series pins are designed specially for the ROCKFAST® E45 tool to attach plywood, oriented strand board (OSB) and fiber cement siding to cold formed steel from 97 mil (12 GA.) to 27 mil (22 GA.). These pins are finished with Aericote® 1000 coating which provides ten times the corrosion protection of electroplated zinc. When driven, the fastener separates completely from the sheet plastic collation leaving a clean fastening, especially important when face nailing siding. The 1" long pins can be used for select steel-to-steel applications of up to two layers of 54 mil (16 GA.). A special knurl pattern improves performance in steel-to-steel connections. Refer to IAPMO UES ER-335 for design values for horizontal diaphragm and shear wall construction. See ICC Reports ESR-2290 and ESR-1844 for design values for use face nailing James Hardie fiber cement siding. Select sizes of similar pins manufactured from 300 series stainless steel are available. These pins are limited in use to fastening to maximum 43 mil (18 GA.) steel.
