Antique (c1850) Sugar / Ice Tongs (Sterling or Coin Silver ?) - B. McFadden

- Antique Sugar / Ice Tongs made by B. McFadden in Pennsylvania. (American Made)
- c1850 in date
- Sterling or Coin Silver (Not sure)
- The curved end of the tongs is monogrammed with an “S”.

The work ends of the tongs have a claw foot design.
- The outside of each side is decorated
with
a heart shape (see pictures).
- The inside of one side piece is hallmarked with
B. McFadd
e
n & Co
along with a few indistinguishable marks,
while the inside of the other side is hallmarked with
G&H
,
also with some additional indistinguishable marks.

The total length is approximately
6 1/2”.

Some v
ery light tarnish.
- The total weight is approximately 65 grams.
- Although some wear is apparent, the tongs appear to be in very nice condition for
their
age.
