1937 Carlyle Beckemeyer Illinois Breese Telephone Book Trenton Highland Beer

This auction is for an original August, 1937 Telephone Directory for Clinton County, Illinois which included listings for Aviston, Beckemeyer , Breese , Carlyle , Germantown and Trenton, Illinois and was published by the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. The book measures 6-1/8" x 9-1/4" and has 16 pages. The pages have residential listings and one line business listins and there are a few pages with display ads for local businesses. Aviston has 1/2 of a page of listings, Beckemeyer has 1/2 a page of listings, Breese has 2 pages of listings, Carlyle has 2-1/2 pages of listings, Germantown has 1/3 of a page of listings and Trenton has 1 page of listings. The front cover has ads for Farmers & Scotty's Cafe in Carlyle. There is a 1/2 page ad inside for Highland Beer (Since 1853) from Carlyle Bottling Works. There is a 1/2 page ad inside for the Superior Cafe in Carlyle. (E-mail me if you would like me to check for a name in the residential section or a business in the business section.) The booklet is in very good condition - the pages are browned with age and somewhat brittle - there is some toning around the edges of the cover - there is an "N-1" written in marker along the top of the cover - there is an ink stamp along the left side of the cover with "Library Copy" - the lower and upper right corners have a minor bumps - there are small indentations on the cover next to the staples. A NICE PIECE OF CLINTON COUNTY HISTORY AND WOULD MAKE A GREAT GIFT FOR SOMEONE WHO LIVED THERE DURING THAT TIME! First class postage is .00 . Telephone directories are great tools for genealogy research - they list who lived in the town and what businesses were there at a specific time.
