    1930s vintage little bow earrings,
    made of Japanned pewter/silvertoned metal
with crystal glass stones and early clip findings
each earring measures just over 3/4" wide (20mm) and 3/8" height not including the bottom looped part that wraps under the ear. They're in good condition for their age, although when I examined them with my magnifying loupe, I found a rough spot underneath the center of each bow, so I think they may have originally had some sort of dangle. This can't be seen or felt while wearing. The black laquer has worn away in places, and one of the rhinestones is slightly discolored from age, although overall they still sparkle brightly in the light.
Clip earrings weren't in common use until the early 1930s, but the unique style of clip and the "Belle Epoque" bow design certainly feels earlier than the 1930s to me. I've looked through patent records, and while I found several types of clip earring patents from the 1910s and 20s, none exactly match these, so I'm listing them as 1930s until I find evidence of an earlier date. If anyone has any info on this type of clip, I'd love to hear it.
